Tree Sap

Tree sap, especially from oak and pine trees common in Louisiana, contains resins that bond strongly to automotive clear coat. Left untreated, sap hardens and becomes increasingly difficult to remove. Attempts to scrape hardened sap can scratch paint. As sap sits in the sun, it can soften clear coat and leave permanent marks.

Bird Droppings

Bird droppings are highly acidic and can begin etching into clear coat within hours, especially in warm weather. Heat causes paint to expand, allowing acids to penetrate deeper. As paint cools and contracts, the etching pattern can become permanently locked in.
